1st day:
11:00 am Transfer by jeep from the airport to Puerto de Samariapo after arriving in a Venezolana Air plane. (1 hour). Start navigating through Orinoco River. Visit to Isla de Raton and to the religious mission school. Navigation through Sipapo River. Have lunch at a place along the river. Navigation through Cuao River up to Danto’s torrent waterfall. Visit to the Piaroa’s native tribe. Overnight stay in a hammock. (L/D)

2nd Day:
09:00 am Walk around the upper section of a waterfall. Navigation to a place in the jungle. (30 min) Start walking through the jungle accompanied by our guides, who will carry the overnight staying gear and food (3 hours). Arrival at the foot of Cuao Tepuy, where you will be able to take refreshing baths in the waterfalls and natural pools. Take a walk and go up the mountain to get to a viewpoint to enjoy the jungle’s enormity. After dinner, we will take a night walk around the jungle where we will be able to experience nightlife in the jungle and observe glowing insects. Overnight stay in hammocks (B/L/D)

3rd Day:
09:00 am Walk back to Cuao River. After that, navigation back to Danto´s torrent. Lunch. Navigation to Sipapo River up to Autana’s river mouth. Visit to the Piaroa native tribe where we Hill spend the night. Overnight stay in a hammock. (B/L/D)

4th Day:
Navigation to Autana River up to Ceguera’s torrent which is the nearest point to Autana Tepuy. Visit to a native tribe. Walk through the jungle where we will be able to have a different view of the Autana Tepuy. Navigation back to Ceguera to enjoy this wonderful place and spend the night. Overnight stay in a hammock (B/L/D)

5th Day:
Navigation back through Autana River. Stopover at a place along Sipapo River to have lunch. Navigation through Orinoco River up To Puerto de Samariapo. Transfer by jeep to Puerto Ayacucho and lodging at a city hotel with A/C (B/L/D)

6th Day:
08:00am Check out. Visit to a handcraft native market where you can have breakfast and buy souvenirs. Transfer to the Airport. Board the plane at 11:00am. End of our services. Breakfast not included; however, you can have breakfast at the market or the airport.

DETAILS ABOUT THE EXCURSION
Boat and equipment:

The boat used for this excursion is a 14 meter (45, 93 feet) long wooden boat equipped with a roof made with the leaves of palm trees which is typical among the native’s tribes of the area and it is powered by a 40 HP outboard motor. Overnight staying takes place in hammocks with mosquito nets placed in the camp. There are gas and solar lamps for night lightning.

We are equipped with coolers and enough ice for all trip, as well as bottled mineral water and cooking gear. In addition, there will be first aid kits, safety equipment for the boat and radio communication with the main office in Puerto Ayacucho and every emergency station in the area.

Our guides will make food at the moment. It is varied and plentiful. Breakfast and dinner will be served at our camping sites. Lunch is the lightest meal and will take place as we travel or in the boat. In some of the places we will be visiting there are available latrines, in other areas will be informed about proper ways to avoid damage to the habitat.

These are adventure excursions; however, we strive to fulfill our passenger’s needs in order for them to enjoy the trip.

DETAILS ABOUT THE TRIP
We will be navigating through the Orinoco River starting from Puerto de Samariapo just before the torrents up the river until we get to one its most interesting tributaries, which is Sipapo River. In addition, there will be visits to the some of the native communities along the riverbank. There are native tribes that do not like being visited so in some cases we will have to observe them from the boat.

Navigating will not take more than two hours with visits and stopovers in between to enjoy the landscape and the rivers.

The Piaroa native tribe avoids the area we will be visiting. Our guides will direct visits to native tribes, during which we will be able to observe and learn about their daily life, as well as mythology and customs. Our guides will let you know how to behave in order not to disturb them and negotiate with their chiefs the possibility of taking pictures.

Along the way, our guides will give you general information about the sceneries we will be visiting as well as their characteristics. This is a jungle adventure excursion so you must listen carefully to all our guides’ recommendations to minimize the risks of accidents and the damage to the surrounding habitats.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

  1. We will be navigating for around 250 km (155, 34 miles) through Orinoco, Sopapo, Cuao and Autana rivers.
  2. We will be able to identify Sipapo River´s basin natural reserve.
  3. Autana Tepuy is 1.430 meters (4691, 60 feet) high and you can go through it walking along a visible cave
  4. We will be visiting the Piaroa’s native tribe territory, which is the most numerous and deeply rooted to its culture in all the Venezuelan Amazon.
  5. We will be able to see over 600 registered species of birds, some of them endemic to the area.
  6. In addition, we will be able to experience and learn about the characteristics the rainforest.
